Developers from the Kaspa community, KaffinPX and Not Thomiz, have started a crowdfunding campaign to create a browser extension wallet for Kaspa. This wallet aims to function similarly to the popular MetaMask wallet for Ethereum and will be compatible with Firefox and Chromium-based browsers. The wallet will allow users to start new accounts or import existing ones and manage their Kaspa coins easily.
The extension wallet will also feature a contact list for storing frequently used Kaspa addresses and customizable settings for a personalized experience. Additionally, the wallet will offer features like website interoperability, online shopping convenience, and a Merchant Mode to help businesses accept KAS as payment.
The development plan for the wallet includes basic features like creating/importing wallets and sending/receiving operations in the first week, followed by the implementation of the window.kaspa API in the second week, and rolling out Merchant Mode in the third week. The team aims for a stable release approximately one month and a week after starting the project.
The crowdfunding goal is set at 250,000 $KAS, with a designated wallet address provided for contributions. If the total amount needed is not raised, the collected funds will be reserved for future community-backed projects.
The Kaspa community has shown support for this initiative, and fundraising is currently in progress. With the upcoming introduction of Kaspa smart contracts, this wallet is expected to make it easier to use Kaspa for transactions.
